A barbarian descended from Atlantean exiles. As a member of the homo mermanus species Attuma can survive underwater, has great strength and the blue skin typical of that race.
Attuma has attempted to conquer Atlantis and overthrow Namor as its ruler. His most successful attempt was thwarted by the Fantastic Four.
Later, Attuma was defeated by the Avengers in his attempt to flood the surface world using his Tidal Expander. (Avengers #26/27)
